1: When was Sargents established?
A: Initially in 1883 with George & Charlotte Sargent and then relaunched in 1989 as a frozen 4 pack of pies through major supermarket chains.
2: Does Sargents support any charities in Australia?
A: Sargents have a Charitable Foundation and support many worthwhile causes in Australia. Go to our Charities page on this site for more details.
3: What is Sargents best selling pie?
A: Our Sargents Traditional Meat Pie is still our best seller.
4: What premium pies do you have in your range
A: To meet consumer demand for premium product we have in our range a number of pies which meet this criteria. Please look at our Brands section and see our full range of premium pies under the Premium section.
5: Do Sargents make party pies and sausage rolls?
A: Yes we do have a range of products in this category - refer to Brands section under 2 Party Ranges .
6: What is the "animal fat" used in the margarine listed in the ingredients?
A: The "animal fat" used in the margarine is tallow, which is derived from cattle. Please note that there is no "animal fat" in Sargents Aromatic Vegetable with Creamy sauce. We use margarine derived from vegetable fats & oils only.
7: Do Sargents use any offal in their meat pies?
A: No, Sargents do not use offal in any of our pies.
8: Is there any pork used in the manufacturing of Sargents Pies and Sausage Rolls?
A: No pork is used in the manufacturing of Sargents pies and sausage rolls.
9: Can Sargents pies be heated in the microwave oven?
A: For optimal eating quality, Sargents recommends our pies and sausage rolls be heated in your conventional oven. However, for a quick snack, pies can wrapped in an absorbent paper towel and heated in a microwave oven. Please note that pies and sausage rolls heated in a microwave oven will have a softer, less crisp pastry than those heated in a conventional oven.
10: Can I re-freeze pies and sausage rolls that have been thawed or heated?
A: As a safety precaution we do not recommend re-freezing any thawed products. The best way to enjoy Sargents products is to heat them straight from the freezer. If you want to thaw the product first, thawing must be done in your refrigerator, not at room temperature. Please note that thawed products have a shelf life of 5 days only, the printed "Best Before Date" on the back of the packet does not apply. Discard any thawed products after 5 days.
11: What is the National Packaging Covenant and where does Sargents fit in?
A: The National Packaging Covenant is a voluntary initiative by Government and Industry, to reduce the environmental effects of packaging on the Environment. It is designed to minimise the environmental impacts arising from the disposal of used packaging, conserve resources through better design and production processes and facilitate the re-use and recycling of used packaging materials.

13: Why are your Extra Special pies - Extra Special?
A:Both our Extra Special products are special as we use only use 100% Australian Grain Fed Beef in our Beef variant and 100% Australian Chicken breast in our chicken variant.
14: Does Sargents Import Meat from Overseas?
A:Sargents Products are made using meat that has been purchased within Australia. Sargents are proud supporters of the Australian meat industry, We do not import our meat from overseas.
